Travel Teams
For those players that are looking to advance beyond instructional skill training and recreational leagues we offer club team play for age groups U10 through U19.
CCFHC holds two primary club seasons – spring outdoor and winter indoor style. Indoor style hockey is an internationally sanctioned style of field hockey played on a synthetic surface using side boards. Indoor is played 6 v 6, including a goalie while outdoor is played 11 v 11, including a goalie.
Advantage of club play
Players that choose to participate on our club teams are looking to elevate their level field hockey ability and compete as a member of a team against various other club teams in New England at various tournaments.
Each team will have a designated coach who develop the players to work as a team using offensive and defensive strategies with the intention of developing each players’ overall skill and ability.
Expectations
Players that participate on our club teams have a desire to learn, compete, be challenged and most importantly, have FUN!
Depending on the season (spring or winter) we may have multiple teams in each age group which are determined at tryouts.
Every player will have different personal goals. Some want to become better players and enjoy the thrill of tournament play. Others aspire to play at the collegiate level. It’s important for the player and parent to communicate to our coaches and let us know your goals so we can help you achieve them.
Tournaments
Spring season runs from late March through June and consists of 7-10 practices on weekends with 3-7 tournaments (depending on age group and team). Tournaments are typically held off-Cape and can require optional overnight travel. Some tournaments are hosted by CCFHC and located her on Cape Cod.
Our top level team in U14, U16 and U19 will compete at USA Field Hockey’s Regional Club Championship. This is the single biggest field hockey event in the region and determines who goes to the National Club Championship in Pennsylvania.
Winter indoor season runs from November through March. Practices are held on weekends in Barnstable and each team will play in 2-4 tournaments, typically off-Cape.
Depending on the year we may send one or more teams per age group to USA Field Hockey’s National Indoor Tournament (NIT) in Pennsylvania for U12 & U14.
Our top U16 and U19 will compete at the National Indoor Tournament Qualifier (NITQ) here in New England for a chance to compete at the National Indoor Tournament.
